On Saturday evening, May 28 at dusk Calumet Park Cemetery will host its annual fireworks display, free to the community. This year, for the first 200 that request a lantern, Calumet Park will provide a lantern for a group release. This will happen just prior to the start of the fireworks. The idea of this release will be for people to write a thought or a feeling for a loved one that was left unspoken onto their lantern and release the mini “hot air balloon” towards the heavens. It is a symbolic way of communicating our love for those who have gone before us.
