Chocolate bunnies and jelly beans, baskets filled with straw.
Are what we see in early Spring after the last wintry thaw.
Boiled eggs in colorful shells, Peeps of pink and yellow…
Easter bonnets and lacy dresses and bunny molds filled with Jello.
Is this what Easter has become – what it is all about?
Or is it the rising of Christ that makes the stones want to shout.
It was on that morning Christ rose from the dead and gave life to all who have lived
That makes Easter Sunday so special for all, as all of our sins He forgives.
Just three days before, He was nailed to a cross; on his head was a crown of thorns.
And as the blood trickled down, the crowd down below seemed to show only scorn.
He forgave them all then, and He forgives us all now…
Heaven’s gates were unlocked, now that’s a big wow!
So eat up your candy and play with your toys.
Find the joy of the season amidst all the noise.
The promise of heaven was fulfilled on that day
When the rock covering the tomb was pushed away.
Just say I believe, and eternity is yours
The crucified Christ opened heaven’s doors.
He gave you free will so choose as you may
Just remember that your future is about what you say.
Invite Jesus into your heart and your soul –
Let His mercy and grace fill your heart’s empty hole.
Simply ask Jesus to be your Savior and Lord
Rejection means something that you can’t afford.
So enjoy your candy and Sunday’s big feast
While remembering that Jesus dying defeated the Beast!
Happy Easter to all from Calumet Park Cemetery.
