Calumet Park Cemetery and Funeral Chapel salutes all of our veterans, young or seasoned, male or female, no matter what color, race, creed or religion. It is because of your dedication that we are free to be able to make our own choices each day. No matter what
your individual politics may be, there is one common bond that we all hold dear…we are citizens of the United States of American, one nation (dare I say it? I’m proud to say it…) under God. Without the work and dedication and sacrifice of every person who ever wore a U.S. Military uniform, and who ever will, and without the support of their families, who knows what we would be a nation under?
Thank you men and women, thank you for being the greatest force between good and evil, our protection between countries that hate us and those that love us, and between our citizens and those around the world that would love to be able to wake up tomorrow as a free, hard-working and law-abiding citizen of this grand old country. We humbly accept this gift of freedom our veterans and our current military declare each day in their willingness to the carry our grand ol’ flag into battle in order to have it wave over America in peace.
Every day is veterans day in this authors heart. I personally became a veteran in May of 1971.
