On June 18th Calumet Park Cemetery held it’s 7th annual fishing for memories event. Kids from all over NW Indiana participated in this catch and release program.
The kids showed up with fishing poles,
and smiles upon their faces.
Gummy worms on cupcake “snacks”,
as hooks for all were baited…
Lines tossed in and fish latched on,
kids hearts were heavily beating.
Most fish were tossed back in the pond,
but some went home for eating.
Moms and dads and grand folks too,
made memories with their wee ones.
Boys and girls were shown great love
by the time the day was done.
Grown ups think that toys and gadgets
are things that their kids crave…
But time together is what they want
from birth until the grave.
So thanks to all for coming out
and fishing for memories in June.
See you next year with poles in hand…
same time, same kids, same tune.
